Liposuction

Liposuction/Body Contouring

  • Removal of abnormal or unwanted fat collections to decrease the size in certain areas of the body and reshape it.
  • Liposuction can be done on the axillae of the breasts, waist (‘love handles’/‘muffin-top’), lower back, central and lower abdomen, outer thighs(‘saddlebags’), inner thighs, knees, buttock crease and calves.
  • This procedure is often combined with an abdominoplasty “tummy tuck”.
  • In selected cases, this fat can be utilised as fat grafts elsewhere on the body.
  • This procedure is recommended for patients who are close to their ideal body weight and need to remove ‘stubborn” fat deposits.
FAQ's

Q: When will I see my results?
A: Certain areas are quicker to recover than others, like inner thighs and arms, while other areas take a little longer, like inner knees and calves. The general expectation is 2-4 weeks after surgery to begin to see the result.

Q: Will I have noticeable scarring after this procedure?
A: There will be small 1-2cm scars, where access was obtained to the underlying tissue to perform the liposuction. These scars are generally and as far as possible, done in areas where they will be hidden by underwear or clothing

Q: What can go wrong during/after this surgery?
A: Please refer to the Patient’s Informed Consent document detailing the risks and complications of this procedure. Your doctor will also discuss these during your consultation.
